Allahabad University was established as a collegiate central university. It is the 4th oldest university in India after Calcutta, Bombay, and Madras Universities. It was declared an Institution of National Importance by the Parliament of India in 2005. It has been ranked 38 among all the 40 central universities in India. The President of India is the visitor and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh is the Chief Rector of the university. Admission for 2022 is ongoing. Admission to UG courses is based on CUET scores. The last date to apply for BCA and MCA is September 30, 2022.

Allahabad university offers full-time courses at UG, PG, diploma, and doctorate levels under 5 significant faculties, namely science, arts, commerce, law, and management.
