Fresh, seasonal produce awaits you at the award-winning Edinburgh Farmers’ Market. This all year round market is open from 9am-2pm each Saturday in the shadow of the castle ramparts in Castle Terrace. Now in its 19th year the market is a staple amongst locals to support small businesses and vendors. A bustling market, delicious smells and flavours will thrill your tastebuds as stall holders tempt you with their wares. Venison, organic beef, chicken, lamb and pork are on the menu as are seasonal fruit and vegetables. Juicy jams, chutneys, chillies and cheese along with crusty bread, handmade chocolates and organic beer ensure you leave the market with a bag full of goodies.

Open every Sunday from 10am-4pm in Jubilee Gardens, the Stockbridge Sunday market is a big hit with local Edinburgh residents. Artisan breads, cheese, smoked salmon and even handmade dog treats sit alongside handmade soaps, jewellery and carefully created crafts. Satisfy your palate with delicious handmade crepes, melting marshmallows or a warming drink as you stroll through this delightful market.

Only a short walk from the Royal Mile, the Grassmarket is one of Edinburgh’s most vibrant and colourful areas. Steeped in history, visitors flock to view the architecture and landmarks including the nearby Greyfriar’s Bobby. Each Saturday from 10am – 5pm it’s a hive of activity as it bustles with residents keen to sample home grown produce including seasonal fruit and vegetables, freshly baked breads, sweet treats and handcrafted gifts from local craftmakers.

Taking place every Saturday from 10am to 4pm on Dock Place, Leith Market is full of foodie delights and unique items from local makers and designers. On the first Saturday of the month Leith Market is home to a Vegan Quarter where, alongside their usual line-up of traders, the Market is filled with delicious variety of Vegan treats from cupcakes to Vegan Meat.

The Pitt Market
Edinburgh’s awards winning street food market on Pitt Street in Leith has proved to be a huge hit with street food lovers. They regularly showcase some of Edinburgh’s biggest players in the street food scene with a variety of sweet and savoury options available. You’ll also find a great offering of drinks from Barney’s Beer, Smith & Gertrude and Cocktails & Drams, alongside live performances by local musicians.

Established and run by Leith Community Croft, Market on the Croft is a new farmer’s market on Leith Links. Selling a wide range of local produce including seasonal fruit and vegetables, this new market is well worth a visit.

Seasonal Markets

During the Edinburgh Festival in August, the grounds of St Johns Church at the West End of Princes Street Gardens takes on a new mantle as it becomes home to the West End Fair – Scotland’s premier Art & Design Fair.

Since its establishment in 1984, this popular city event has grown in strength and become a firm favourite during the backdrop of the Festival. The highlight of the market year, the Edinburgh’s Christmas Market is visited by thousands of Christmas shoppers wrapping up warm to revel in the delicious aromas of sweet scented Gluhwein, crepes, waffles and sizzling venison sausages at this European themed market.
